2. Delivery and protection of the website
This website is hosted on a server operated by netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with netcup pursuant to Article 28 GDPR. The web server operated by Renart does not keep its own access log.
Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, provides DNS, reverse proxy, security, and content delivery functions. Requests to this website therefore pass through the Cloudflare network first. In particular, Cloudflare may process the IP address, time, requested address, HTTP and device information, and data used to detect and prevent abusive access. Cloudflare may also process data outside the EU or EEA; the agreed data protection safeguards, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, apply to such processing.
This processing is necessary to deliver the expressly requested website securely, reliably, and quickly. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and uninterrupted operation of the website. Technical data is processed only for as long as necessary for delivery, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, or legal obligations.
Further information is available in the privacy notices of netcup and Cloudflare.
3. Storage of your privacy and interface choices
The consent manager stores the technically necessary cookie renart_consent after you make a privacy choice. It contains your accepted categories, consent version, language, a randomly generated consent identifier, and the timestamps of your first and latest choice. The cookie is sent with requests to getrenart.com but is not evaluated by the web server. It expires after 180 days unless you change your choice or delete it earlier. This prevents the banner from returning on every page visit and lets us respect your decision. You can change it at any time through Privacy settings in the footer. The legal basis is section 25(2)(2) TDDDG and, to the extent that personal data is processed, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
If you dismiss the Discord invitation, we also store only the value 1 under the key renart.discord-invite-dismissed.v1 in your browser's local storage. This prevents a dismissed invitation from appearing again on subsequent pages. This preference is likewise not transmitted to our server and can be reset by clearing your browser's local storage. The legal basis is section 25(2)(2) TDDDG and, to the extent that personal data is processed, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Your chosen light or dark appearance is stored under starlight-themein local storage and shared between the website and documentation. This setting stays in your browser and is not sent to our server. Without a saved choice, the website follows your device's appearance. Clear local storage to reset it.
4. Optional audience measurement
Only if you expressly consent does this website activate our self-hosted, cookie-free audience measurement. We operate it on infrastructure in Germany; the data is not disclosed to a separate analytics provider. Before you consent, no analytics code is loaded and no analytics event is sent.
When audience measurement is enabled, we process the page path and title, referrer, hostname, screen resolution, and browser language. Search parameters and URL fragments are excluded. Technically transmitted information, including the IP address and user agent, is used to generate a rotating session identifier; the raw IP address is not stored as an analytics value. This produces statistics about page views, sessions, countries of origin, browsers, operating systems, and device types. We do not use the analytics service to identify people or track them across other websites, and it does not set analytics cookies. We also respect an enabled Do Not Track preference in your browser.
The legal bases are your consent under section 25(1) TDDDG and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Analytics events are deleted after no more than 90 days. You can withdraw your consent at any time with future effect through Privacy settings in the page footer. The lawfulness of processing before withdrawal remains unaffected.
5. External links and the Discord community
Links to GitHub and Discord are ordinary links. We do not embed content from these providers; a connection is established only when you open a link.
If you join the Renart community on Discord, Discord processes your account, usage, and communication data under its own responsibility. For people in the EEA, Discord names Discord Netherlands B.V. as the controller. Server administrators can see your public profile name, roles, contributions, and necessary moderation actions. We use only Discord's built-in AutoMod feature and no additional bots or separate bot logs. Our processing serves to operate and protect the voluntarily used community on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a helpful and safe project community. Discord may process data in third countries, particularly the USA. Details and deletion options are described in Discord's privacy policy.
6. Contacting us
If you contact us by email, we process your sender address, the content of your message, and any accompanying data required to respond. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request concerns pre-contractual or contractual matters, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete correspondence once the request has been conclusively resolved, unless statutory retention or evidence obligations require otherwise.
7. Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you have in particular the right to:
- access personal data processed about you (Article 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Article 16 GDPR),
- erasure or restriction of processing (Articles 17 and 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Article 20 GDPR),
- object to processing under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21 GDPR),
- withdraw consent with future effect (Article 7(3) GDPR).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the place of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. To exercise your rights, send a message to the email address stated above.
8. Automated decisions
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
